Didn't know what to make of it back then as I was more accustomed to the classic LucasArts and Sierra point & click adventures which I found infinitely more appealing. The Journeyman Project: Turbo was bundled with our family PC back in the mid 90s. The clarity and graphics you are looking for will be absent though so this is a last resort kind of recommendation. If you don't mind trying something more old school adventure-like with that typical semi-serious / semi-funny corny 90s vibe and slightly frustrating clunky gameplay that hasn't aged all too well then it might be worth a try, mainly for the story. I just looked up some footage of Family Mysteries 2 and the game reminds me a lot of The Journeyman Project series.
